Description:The purpose of the workshop is to present critical water right topics and describe state programs to fisheries and aquatic science professionals to broaden their knowledge and understanding of Idaho water law and identify strategies to help achieve desirable water resource conditions to maintain and enhance fisheries, aquatic, and riparian habitats. The first half of the workshop will include a broad overview of Idaho Water Right law, discuss groundwater and surface water interaction and state management, briefly explain Idaho’s water right adjudication purpose and process, and dive into Managed Aquifer Recharge. The second half of the workshop will explore and highlight Idaho’s Water Transactions, Minimum Stream Flow and Lake Level, and Water Supply Bank programs. The workshop will complete the afternoon by describing important water right administrative processes (e.g. water right review and protest) and provide tips and ideas on how to achieve good outcomes for fisheries resources. The course will be taught by multiple instructors presenting informative presentations with brief Q & A sessions.
